Platforms
Different platforms handle the network-specific processes used by software routers differently. Therefore, Anapaya tests the compatibility and performance of various platforms and configurations with the Anapaya's software installed.
Platform classes
| Certified | Evaluated | Community | Incompatible | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The platform is hosted in our lab | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| We assure performance and compatibility of the platform * | Yes | No | No | No |
| We evaluate performance and compatibility of the platform ** | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| We ensure LTS for the platform † | Yes | No | No | No |
| Anapaya support level | Standard | Best effort | Best effort | No |
- * We ensure that the platform meets performance and compatibility requirements before a new appliance version is released. The requirements are defined on a per-platform basis.
- ** We run the performance and compatibility tests on the platform after every minor release and publish the results.
- † Platforms distributed by Anapaya are guaranteed to be certified for at least as long as it is supported by the vendor. LTS for platforms certified through our certification program is determined on a per-case basis.
Platform certification program
The certification of a platform, i.e., its integration into Anapaya's quality assurance pipeline includes:
- Hosting the configuration in Anapaya’s lab
- Testing it upon new software releases
- Adapting the software to optimize the performance and ensure compatibility
Therefore, Anapaya can offer the highest level of software support for these platform configurations. When a customer decides to use another type of platform configuration, Anapaya cannot integrate it in its quality assurance pipeline. Therefore, even if the software runs properly, it cannot be guaranteed over time and the responsibility for the qualification of the new releases lies with the customer.
However, certain customers have special requirements (e.g., hardened hardware, high performance appliances, specific uCPE etc.) which are not covered by Anapaya’s certification roadmap and need to get the highest possible level of software support. Through its hardware certification program, Anapaya can certify the specific configuration, potentially tune the performance, and includes it in the quality assurance pipeline. The configuration then becomes officially certified. Inquiries about the hardware certification program can be sent to cse@anapaya.net.
